We’ve all had it happen at least once: we look in our closets only to be met with a severe case of fashion malaise. Instead of being inspired or excited to get dressed we feel like lighting a match to the contents would suit us just fine at that moment (I’m sure my lawyer would want me to mention that I personally do not endorse this last option). So what’s a Stylish One to do when faced with such existentialist wardrobe angst, when One has a crisis of style?
1. Give yourself a break
2. Take a Fashion Holiday
If you want to run around in your yoga clothes for a week because you need a break, if you’re able, do so! When you have work or a meeting, go with a simple ensemble. Remember your shoes and bag will pull your look together, add a simple white shirt and skirt. Allow yourself the downtime of not thinking about your style for one week.
3. Get Centered in your own Best Style
After your Fashion Holiday, get back on the horse. Take a deep, cleansing breath and go back to your closet. How do you feel now? What needs to change so that you can get centered in your own Best Style? Perhaps it’s time for a rigorous closet clean out. Perhaps you’re style is in flux and what you used to love you now loathe. It’s ok, it’s great, in fact. Style is like life, it’s a journey, an evolution. Start to let go of what no longer works so that you can create space for the new pieces that will reinvigorate your look and your wardrobe!
